New Year Greetings from the Chairman
	A Happy New Year !

"Broadband" is one of the keywords of Information Communication Industry in the 21st century, and there has been a rapid progress in this area under the national goal of e-Japan strategy to become the leading-edge IT countries in the world within five years.

Under such circumstance, infrared communication is getting sunshine as one of the measures to promote the "Broadband".

ICSA launched its homepage in April 2001, and has been devoting its efforts to present various information concerning "Infrared Communication Systems" through this homepage, with the view to promoting the understandings.  Since then, we have received many inquiries from many people and get a feeling that interests in "Infrared Communication" are increasing more and more.

Furthermore, we were admitted a membership as a Japanese representative in the area of free space optics at the meeting of IEC/TC76 last year, and realized our wish to participate in the international collaboration.   Through joint cooperation with other related organizations in Japan, we hope that we can contribute to the international collaboration in 2002.

ICSA wishes your understanding and support for development of Infrared Communication, hereafter, too.
