The standardization work for extending ARIB STD-T50
to a visible light region is under enforcement

 
In the Infrared Communications System Association (ICSA), we have contributed to standardize (ARIB STD T-50) of an optical wireless LAN system. The standardization (Ver. 3.0) up to 1Gbps is already made. In recent years, concern about visible optical communications or lighting optical communications is increasing.

Then, examination which extends an operating wavelength to a visible region was started with the Visible Light Communication Consortium (VLCC). Now, the standardization work about the system to transmission speed 100Mbps is done, and the decision as ARIB STD T-50 (Ver.4.0) is planned by the autumn of 2009.
